Moviequestion: island of terror 1966 does someone remember this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_of_T...

Iam not against the current horror movies, even some modern teeniehorror films like "Scary Movies or a modern brutality Hostel" are very popular, but their scripts are extremely muddled and the dialogues are sometimes very aweful...

A lot of people remember this film, including me. Most seem to have horrific memories from childhood, but they want to know the name of the film and track it down again.

Yes, I remember it although I haven't seen it for at least 30 years. Let's say i don't have a really clear memory. When people have described the creatures, they never use words that I would, so perhaps my mental image is inaccurate.

I love older horror/sci fi films, often more than some of the present-day ones, at least those that rely on gore, dismemberment and other atrocities. Such scenes are grossouts or just plain nasty, not true horror. It's true that such films as "Hostel" seem to lack any storytelling skill. I haven't seen some of them, but reading the analyses and reviews shows me that I don't want to allow them to enter my memories.

I'm with you: Let's celebrate the old stuff! I'm not saying they didn't have an occasional "icky" moment, but certainly nothing like the "torture porn" nowadays~a phrase being used with more frequency. Human beings do enough dreadful things to other human beings without seeing it on the screen. I've made up my mind that I will not provide links to information about some films; from now on, I might~maybe~give a title, but that will be all.

what i want to know is if anyone has seen these movies, docs, etc how do they get the type of quality they do in the movies, and if it's not called quality, then what is it called that's my question.

just think of like, the lighing and colors, etc but altogther WHAT IS THAT SPECIFICALLY CALLED?

If I understand your question, the color and lighting of a film are part of the cinematography and are the responsibility of the cinematographer or director of photography. In a movie like City of Lost Children, set design also plays a big role in determining the look of the film, and the director will work with the art director and cinematographer together to create a certain look.

In traditional film-making, the color balance is established by the use of filters over the camera lens and/or the lights, and can be further adjusted after shooting by varying the development process, or printing a copy of the film through color filters. The post-production color adjustments are called color timing or color grading.

These days, many movies are using digital color timing. The film is digitized, edited as you would video, and then the edited digital movie is printed back onto film for distribution.
